Managing Big Emotions
Join us Tuesday evenings from 4:15pm to 6:15pm to learn evidence-based skills. Our group meets in person at 1550 Laperriere Ave #100, Ottawa, ON K1Z 7T2 (Revel Academy School).

Learn to:

Understand and manage big emotions

Be more mindful and present in everyday life and on hard days

Decrease big emotions in relationships with friends and family

Effectively communicate needs and boundaries while maintaining relationships
Each 2-hour group session is $162 and invoices will be provided for insurance purposes upon payment receipt.
6-Week Module Outline
Week 1:
What is DBT and How Can DBT Help Me?

Learn the “ins and outs” of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and the ways it can be helpful to you.
Mindfulness…What, When and How to Practice

Learn how mindfulness can help you to be present in all aspects of your life including when you are managing big emotions.
Week 2:
Teen Life and Why It Can Be Stressful

Learn about teen life realities and the factors that can make life more stressful.
How Anxiety Can Get In The Way

Learn how anxiety can manifest, including perfectionism, procrastination and self-criticism
The 3 Helpful Selfies: Self Care, Self Validation & Self Compassion

Learn about the “Helpful Selfies” and how they can make life less stressful.
Week 3:
These Emotions are So Overwhelming!

Learn the skills that will help you tolerate distress
Week 4:
Reality Acceptance…Even When It Feels Unacceptable

Learn specific skills to heal and accept difficult situations in your life…even when it seems impossible.
Weeks 5 :
Emotion Regulation as a Super Power!

Learn the importance of emotion regulation skills and how you can use these skills to your benefit!
Weeks 6:
Introduction to the Communication Powerhouses (and Wrecking Balls!)

Learn concrete strategies to help you communicate effectively in relationships. Learn how to communicate your needs, your boundaries and how to communicate when life gets challenging
